The Clive Aquatic Center Trail Connection is a 780-foot trail segment that extends from the existing trail along the north side of Walnut Creek, crossing the creek to reach the northeast corner of the Aquatic Center. This 10-foot-wide trail features a 120-foot-long pre-manufactured bridge over the creek.
Civil Design Advantage was responsible for conducting all necessary surveying to gather site features and utility information, which was essential for preparing a base map and creating a digital terrain model (DTM) for design purposes. The project also involved wetland delineation and geotechnical investigation.
The scope included establishing hydraulic modeling for the creek using HEC-RAS and incorporating flood discharge data from the City of Clive Flood Insurance Study. Additionally, the project required obtaining a “No-Rise” certification and submitting the final hydraulic report for the proposed creek crossing to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
The Greenbelt Trail in Clive is 11.3 miles in length and stretches throughout the community. A map of the trail can be found here.
