On Friday, October 11th, Civil Design Advantage attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Grimes’ new Public Safety Center. CDA has been involved from the project’s inception, providing both preliminary and final site design for this facility. The new 16,500-SF building will house the Grimes Fire Department and offer office space for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department. Located on a 3.7-acre site just south of SW County Line Road and West 1st Street, the Public Safety Center’s location was strategically chosen to support the city’s future growth.
The design of the Public Safety Center includes several key features, such as:
– Four pull-through bays for fire apparatus and ambulances, ensuring quick and efficient access.
– Parking areas on both the east and west sides of the building to accommodate staff and visitors.
In addition to design and engineering services, CDA assisted with the analysis that factored in response times and other station locations to help the city determine the best location for the station.
