Grimes Public Safety Center Grand Opening

On Thursday, December 11, CDA joined City of Grimes and Johnston leadership, public safety staff, and community members to celebrate the grand opening of the new Grimes Public Safety Center at 2001 SW 6th Street. The event included a ribbon cutting, swearing-in ceremony, and building tours.

The 16,500-square-foot facility will house the Grimes Fire Department and provide office space for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department. City officials selected this site after analyzing response times and considering future growth. The west side of the City near County Line Road offers the most strategic location for serving the community effectively.

CDA provided preliminary and final site design for the 3.7-acre property. Designs included parking on both sides of the building, four pull-through apparatus bays, an above-ground stormwater detention basin, and landscaping featuring native Iowa plants. CDA also supported the project through construction administration and observation, ensuring the design was implemented smoothly.

CDA is proud to have contributed to the Grimes Public Safety Center, helping the City invest in public safety and prepare for future growth. Learn more about CDA projects here and explore the City of Grimes website.
