Pearson Park, an 8.5-acre neighborhood park in West Des Moines, exemplifies the blend of urban living with natural tranquility. With its mature tree canopies, pedestrian bridges, and varied topography, the park has long been a cherished space for community gatherings and recreational activities.
Civil Design Advantage (CDA) was commissioned by the City of West Des Moines to lead a comprehensive renovation of Pearson Park, specifically aimed at enhancing its amenities while preserving its natural beauty. The project was guided by extensive stakeholder engagement, with input from residents gathered through two public meetings. This feedback shaped a plan that aligns with the community’s needs and priorities.
Key elements of the renovation include the installation of a modern shelter and restroom facility, strategically positioned to improve functionality and accessibility. The plan also introduces age-appropriate play areas designed to foster inclusive recreation for children of all ages. Additionally, CDA emphasized the importance of enhanced visibility and security, ensuring that Pearson Park remains a safe and inviting space for all visitors.
Through this thoughtful and community-focused approach, CDA has revitalized Pearson Park, ensuring it continues to serve as a beloved outdoor haven for current and future generations.
