CDA attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Heart of America’s newest residential living project, The Aston, in Des Moines’ East Village on Tuesday. The mixed use property will have 7,000 square feet of commercial space on the first floor. The building will also include 186 residential units with a mix of studios, one bedroom, and two bedroom apartments. Featured community amenities include a fitness center, outdoor kitchen, electric vehicle charging, covered underground parking, and a dog park. The $44 million project received special permission to exceed the 75-foot maximum for East Village structures, which is intended to preserve the views of the Iowa State Capitol. Tempo, another HOA project in the East Village that recently celebrated their grand opening this summer. This building is located just a couple blocks south on 317 E 6th Street and has a pool deck, dog park and spa, and great Capitol views.
