Construction Observer
Civil Design Advantage (CDA) is currently seeking a full-time, on-site CONSTRUCTION OBSERVER. This position will be responsible for observing, limited testing, and documenting the construction of public and private land development projects which may include, but are not limited to, street and roadway pavements, water mains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, storm water detention basins, telecommunication and data, athletic fields, and other specialized site improvements and amenities, in compliance with project drawings and specifications.  The successful candidate may be supplied with a company truck, laptop computer, and other required field equipment and material.  Contact Keith Weggen at 515-369-4400 or KeithW@cda-eng.com.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interrupt drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed field book notes documenting all aspects of testing and construction work completed each day.
  • Measure and record daily installed quantities.
  • Document and provide required information for the preparation of Record Drawings
  • Prepare project close-out documentation near completion of construction.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of construction related experience with an associate degree in civil engineering technology or similar is preferred but, not mandatory.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and EXCEL.
  • Must be able to remove and install manhole lids and intake grates weighing up to 115 pounds.
  • Valid Iowa driver’s license.
  • Familiarity with Iowa SUDAS Specifications is beneficial.

Traffic Engineer
Civil Design Advantage (CDA) has an immediate need for Traffic Engineer. This is a full-time position with benefits. Responsibilities include the design and preparation of plans, specification and cost estimates for traffic engineering projects to control vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Performs all phases of planning and design such as traffic signs, signals, and channelization and intersection layouts. Prepares Traffic Studies to determine impact of proposed developments. Conducts accident studies and recommends measures for corrective action. Inspects and completes necessary documents for the installation of traffic signals and other traffic control devices. Professional licensure in Iowa as a civil engineer is required. Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D is preferred. Candidates should have the ability to work in a team environment. Project Engineer
Civil Design Advantage (CDA) is accepting applications for a full-time Project Engineer. Candidate will provide engineering services for civil design, plan/specification preparation and hydrology calculations. Previous experience with site development engineering including paving, grading and drainage plans, storm sewer and sanitary sewer and due diligence studies for property development is desirable. Licensed Project Engineer
Civil Design Advantage (CDA) is accepting applications for a licensed Project Engineer. This is a full-time position with benefits. Responsibilities include civil design, plan/specification preparation, hydrology calculations, civil engineering support for CDA project managers and other general civil engineering support. Professional licensure in Iowa as a civil engineer is required. Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D is preferred. Candidates should have the ability to work in a team environment. Survey/CAD Technician – Office
Civil Design Advantage (CDA) is accepting applications for full-time a permanent CAD Technician within its Survey Group. Experience with AutoCAD and or Surveying desired. Landscape Architect In-Training
Civil Design Advantage (CDA) is accepting applications from recent or new graduates in Landscape Architecture to work within a design team on Land Development projects. Ideally, individual should have experience with Land Development projects and using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Land F/X. Individual will work with senior Landscape Architects and Civil Engineers to design a variety of projects, including, but not limited to commercial retail, offices, clinics, sports fields, neighborhood parks, and multi-family development.
