CDA prepared an Enhancement Plan for Buxton Park, the City of Indianola’s oldest public park. The plan establishes a clear framework for site improvements that strengthen circulation, accessibility, and long-term functionality while respecting the park’s historic character. Our team evaluated existing conditions, identified areas for upgraded amenities, and developed phased recommendations to guide future investments.
The plan defines locations for new plantings, gardens, furnishings, walkways, art installations, and other landscape features. These elements improve wayfinding and expand opportunities for recreation, education, and horticultural programming. CDA also analyzed pedestrian flow and designed a small entry roundabout to highlight the park’s main core and improve access.
Additional improvements include an enlarged gazebo, expanded paved areas to meet ADA standards, designated memorial locations, and a children’s ornamental-grass maze. Together, these recommendations support a cohesive identity for Buxton Park and reinforce its role as a community destination.
